Sealed cabinet speakers

Sign in to disble this ad
So, who makes basss speakers that work well with a 2X12" sealed cabinet? The cabinet box is about the same size as a
mid 60`s bassman cab. The reason I ask is I`ve never seen a speaker`s description as for a sealed or ported cab. Maybe it`s in the fine print. I also have a mid 70`s Ampeg V4 2X12" cabinet that I would like to load with bass speakers.
Thanks.

Have a look on the Eminence site. On their datasheets it gives details for approx volume of cab size for their speakers in sealed and ported cabs. That should be a good place to start methinks. I know that Celestion don't put that info on their datasheets though.

I believe one of the key parameters to look for is EBP < 80.

Less than 60 is preferred. Like all alignments you must use modeling software to know what will work, especially with regards to maximum power handling, as that tends to be rather low with sealed cabs.
