Searching for days with no end in sight :(

Sign in to disble this ad
I know its been beaten to death about small cabs, but there are so many threads on them that i cant find what im looking for. Ive searched.

Ok so i play with 2 loud guitarists and a loud drummer, but i dont have car space for a 6x10 any more, i drive a honda civic and it just doesnt fit :/

It needs to be 4x10 or smaller, i like a nice creamy warm sound, but want to be able to push it and get some dirt out of it every now and then (incase i decide to go back to metal)

Please help!

I run a Hartke LH500 head by the way

Sorry, in that type of band, a large cab or alot of help from a PA is the only answer - can't win 'em all... Otherwise, have fun replacing drivers on a routine basis...

- georgestrings

PS - don't buy a car that won't haul the gear you need...

I just got a pair of Bag End S15-D's for $350 each. They will fit into any car (18x18x15) 45 lbs each and they keep up with my loud band. Darn near keeps up with my Berg 610. Lots of love on this site for these cabs and now I know why.

Does it handle the mids and highs very well? 15" speakers worry me that there will be no mids or trebs you know?

And the car was given to me, not going to complain there, and I can't afford to drive a truck

A pair of SVT210AV's are worth thinking about too.

Note their limited power handling (200rms). Generally the lower the power handling the more efficient they are and the better the highs . I have a pair of crap no-name sealed 1x15's rated at 100 or 150w I think that sound great .

What about a pair of GK Neo212 cabs. They are loud, deep, efficient, light and not too expensive. I have the Neo 412 and its a monster loud cab. A pair of 212's would easily fit in your car and be easy to load in and out.

I run a Precision through a Hartke LH1000 with 2-2 x 10 Low Down Sound made cabs. With the '500, you should still be able to get your tone anywhere.

You don't even need LDS cabs, any other fine bass cab maker can get you there...with tone. A pair (or 3) of decent smallish 2 x 10's can get you noticed.

I know how you feel man.... I inherited my car from my grandfather and will keep it forever... but can't fit my 6x10 in it. That's why we have a band van!

I play through a GK RBH410. Loudest cabinet I've played through. It is bigger than standard 410 enclosures, but should fit in a back seat still. It is expensive, though.

OP - You may consider the Talkbass-loved configuration of two 2x10 stacked vertically..so it's a column of 4 tens.

The two x 2x10 will fit in your car easily, and putting the topmost 10 up by your ears will allow you to hear yourself better. Get cabs that are ported will help with the low end, and aligned shelf ports that go all the way up will sound better to you.

It's not the most traditional looking stack, but will suit your transportation limitations.

Find a couple of Avatar 2x10 Neo's (8 ohm) and you'll be all set.

2x12 with 3012HOs, vertical, and a high powered micro amp.

The 2x12 can be ~1.5cf per driver, so 30" tall by 15" deep by 15" wide or thereabouts.

It won't have tons of lows but it'll be as loud as almost any 4x10 out there and with a 900w @ 4 ohm micro, capable of getting insanely loud as long as you have enough port area (20 square inches per woofer).

Forgive the dumb question, if I run 2 2x10 cabs at 8 ohm each, would I plug both into my head or 1into the head and 1 into the other? And would that make it 4 ohm?
