Senior Moment/XLR Cables

Hey guys help me out here.

Which Pin on an XLR connector should go where on a 1/4 TRS and which ones should be shorted going from XLR to just Tip and Sleave.

I know I know this stuff but I'm drawing a blank.

I need to make up a cable right quick.

Pin 1 to ground; pin 2 to tip; pin 3 to ring for TRS or ground for TS.

Technically, when going to an unbalanced (TS) connector you must ground pin 3 (to pin 1) if the XLR output is transformer-balanced. If it is a solid-state electronically-balanced output, you needn't ground pin 3. In some cases, the device can't handle the grounding.

So you can leave pin 3 unconnected. If the XLR is transformer-balanced, you'll know it; the sound will be weak and possibly distorted. Then you ground pin 3 and it's good.
