A serious Mesa withdrawal.

Well my new Mesa M9 arrived today. My Avatar B410 and B212 cabs will be here Monday. My problem is I had double hernia repair this past Monday and I can't do anything for at least a week(maybe a couple) but look at this gear in the box.

I did have my father-in-law get the M9 out of the box just to inspect and as customary with Mesa gear. This amp is built like a tank.

So for now I'll read up on the manual and get a good understanding of the controls. If any of you experienced M9 users have any suggestions or tips I'd sure like to hear about them. Since I can't do much else right now. Proud to be a Mesa owner.

can't you just have somebody plug it in under your watchful eye?

The problem is all my gear is in the lower level of my home and I am upstairs and can't walk up or down 15 stairs because of the surgery. I guess I could have all the gear brought upstairs to me, I just hate asking someone to carry all my gear upstairs.

Congrats on the rig man! There's an M9 club on here you should definitely check out for tips. My personal tips would be:

1) Be careful...it's loud as sin.

2) No, seriously...it can be much louder than you think.

3) There is a "deep" push/pull. Don't forget about it.

4) Get the head case. It looks really cool and protects the head incredibly well...but is a pain in the A$$ to assemble with the M9 in it.

5) Try a Mesa cab ASAP if you haven't already. The M9 is a match made in heaven for every mesa cab...save the PH1200.

Hope you get well soon man. I'm getting over some medical issues myself, and not being able to play properly is KILLING me!

My M9 is already upstairs. So it would just be the cabinet which gets here Monday.

Yeah I am really looking forward to hooking up. Unfortunately I'm not sure I can even hold the bass in my lap right now.

Yeah not being able to play and all these boxes with new gear in them and I can't open them. Sucks.

Thanks for the tips, I appreciate it. I have a Walkabout/Scout and really dig it also. So I am familiar with the quality of the Mesa gear, but this M9 is a whole new animal for me.

Thanks for the well wishes.

Sorry you're hurting so bad, bro. Not a bad plan though, having an M9 delivered to help accelerate your healing

Welcome to the club

Congrats on a killer new amp! I had a double hernia as well a few years back and had only an SVT CL back then. One of the guitarists volunteered to move it for me (once) while I recovered. Next rehearsal was another two weeks from that day !! I picked up the M9 last March and absolutely love it. I did get the head case with it and believe it's worth the extra $$. Good protection and great looks.

As previously stated it is LOUD! Be careful when making volume adjustments, especially if you have the gain past 12:00 (gets a nice little growl there and anything past 12:00). I have it running through a pair of Acme Low B2s and have never heard the Acmes sound so good. Gets a tad warm at 2 ohms. I can honestly say that if there were only the gain and volume controls, I would be 100% happy but I do switch the voice control to "2" for a bit of scoop on occasion.

You're gonna love it! Congrats again.

A question for you. Does the head case have a cover(s) that protects the front and rear? I always see pictures of it open and never with a cover.

Marty

No it doesn't, but it's pretty recessed in the front and back. I think I've played 50+ gigs with mine and I don't even have a scratch on the faceplate or rear.

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned, but when your Avatar cabs arrive on Monday, make sure you have someone else to help you get the cabs inside your house. They pack them really well in boxes that don't have handles, so you need to actually lift the whole box from the sides or bottom.

Yes and thank you. I got a couple of neighbors that are ready when Fed-Ex arrives.

if you tie a ratchet strap horizontally around the box it makes a perfect handle for climbing stairs....

What he said ! ... there's about 3/4 inch from the front to the end of either of the two toggles on the front. It does come with a nice padded cover for transportation & storage.

Well hot damn, Fed-Ex surprised me today with my cabs. For now all we could do was push them into the garage. Man I am mentally so ready to stack them and plug in, just not ready physically.
