serious question...

I'm thinking about getting the Markbass LM800... but I want to run 2 cabs off of it. I have a 4ohm 412 cab, and want to run another 4 ohm cab... but there's only what appears to be ONE output?! Is that correct? I don't want to daisy chain cabs... I'm accustomed to seeing most amp heads with two outputs...*** markbass? Make an awesome head with a mono out... *sigh*

Even with two outputs, you couldn't run two of these cabs, it isn't 2 ohm stable. Daisy chaining is the same as using two outputs, too.

Two four ohm cabinets will be a load of two ohms to the amp and according to this page the minimum load for that amp is four ohms.

In other words, you can't do it.

What's wrong with daisy chaining cabinets ? As long as your speaker cables are adequate there should be no problem.

Minimum impedance is 4 ohms, so you can't run another cab anyway.

You can NOT run two 4 ohm cabs from MarkBass. Minimum load is 4 ohms and two 4 ohm cabs will be 2 ohms = fried amp. You could use a special made series cable to run two 4 ohm cabs in series with the result of a drop in output power at 8 ohms (in which case you only need one output on the amp anyway). Dual speaker outs on most amp heads are mono still anyway.

Man I am slow today :D

Series

You can do it. Have someone make you a cable so that the 2 cabs are in SERIES (+ to -). You'll only be running @ 8 ohms, but moving more air.

Also---- there is nothing wrong with running one cabinet to another (parallel). A parallel connection at the amp or cab is still a parallel connection.

True, however, the power loss will essentially negate any gains from the additional speaker area. There will be a gain, but most people will only notice it with a meter.

Buy a 2ohm Genz benz

john m 01-26-2013 05:46 PM

Then listen. I think the two cabs will be louder with less headroom at the amp.

I have. I own a sound production company, and have thus had the opportunity to try all kinds of setups.

will the shuttle 9.0 run 2 ohms?

dukey donkey 01-26-2013 05:54 PM

crap... i just looked at the manual... nope

dukey donkey 01-26-2013 05:55 PM

anyone have a good recommendation for a 2 ohm min load head?

tekdiver500ft 01-26-2013 06:07 PM

Either Genz Benz GBE head, Ampeg SVT-CL, Ampeg SVT-VR, Ampeg V4B. I'm sure there are many others, but these are some really solid options.

Bass_Pounder 01-26-2013 06:17 PM

Carvin

dukey donkey 01-26-2013 07:10 PM

lookin at a carvin BX1500.... anyone have an opinion?

tekdiver500ft 01-26-2013 07:13 PM

That's a good head, and a screaming deal right now. The tone isn't to my taste, but a lot of people like them.

dukey donkey 01-26-2013 07:16 PM

what about the B2000? seems like a simpler control set, which I like...

dukey donkey 01-26-2013 07:17 PM

will it get a good metal tone?
