Hi TB folks, Just sold my dream rig Trace V4 and Ampeg 810e. A local music shop in Edinburgh, where I live, sells Hartke gear yaaa!! Or so I thought! I went in to order a Hartke Kilo and AK410 cab ooh yes!! However I can get the cab but no chance until August/September on the Kilo head! Booo! It would appear it has been set back again. It's a bit of a bummer because I don't change manufacturers often (Trace/Ampeg for years) so the Kilo was the one that was going to make me change! Well unfortunately not now, I'm going to source a USA made SVT 3 or 4 pro and cab. Pity!

a usa head is fine (the newer ones are also fine and every bit as well made imho), but i'd advise proceeding with caution when buying a usa ampeg cab. the cabs they made from 98-05 were either made with osb, and from 00-05 they had dark sounding speakers with very little top end. the newer cabs sound a lot better. you could go with an american cab made before 98, but most of those 810's from before handle only 400w. they sound great, but if you're looking to crank a 4 pro into one really loud, you're better off with the higher power handling.

Hi folks, thanks for the replies.

I had the Trace/Ampeg rig for years, it has never been gigged and me being 44 realised it was just to heavy for me now. Super though it is and was for me it really needed to be used properly and professionally as it is now.

I sourced an Ampeg SVT-3pro - Korean made - from a company on eBay. It was £600 brand new which is a great price here and I'm very pleased with it.

it is a real shame about the Hartke head being held back again but I have spoken with Gareth at Hartke UK who has been outstanding and really went out of his way to try and assist me.

cheers all

andy
