SG Systems 8x12?

There's an road case style SG Systems 8x12 at Columbus Music Go Round for $180. I was wondering if anyone knows anything about these cabs including whether they're equipped for bass or not.

Thanks y'all!

Probably not for bass, though I imagine it could be used for it. But I played some of that SG stuff at stores when I was younger and I thought it was crap. YMMV.

I don't need it and likely won't ever even go look at it but I was just curious if it was work a crap. I've already got that Kustom taking up my "big cab" slot

The SG Systems amps (particularly the head units) came in both guitar and bass formats but the particular columns were actually aimed for their solid-state PA unit.

Anyway...

180$ for eight 12-inch speakers sounds like a hell-of-a-deal.

BUT...

If my memory serves me right the speaker rig was a PAIR of two 4x12" columns (hence marketing it as SG-812-COL). If you are planning of purchase then I'd check that out if I were you. $180 for four 12-inch speakers is a tempting deal but not as much as the former. I'd also check out whether the deal includes both cabs or just one of them. Four speakers is definitely not the same as eight.

Seriously: Pull the drivers, sell the empty enclosure on eBay, build a bunch of 1x12 or 2x12 cabs.

didn't jim marshall try making those in the sixties? i read pete townsend had roadies in an uproar over it, so the 412 was created. true or not, i bet this one has deafened a few folks in its time.

Meh, I'm already over the idea of that SG cab. I'm already overloaded and it'll be way too large whether it's a 4x12 column or an 8x12.

As far as those Marshalls goes, there's a shop local to me with a late '60 something(?) Marshall 8x10 that I try to buy every time I see it. He wants $1500 and won't take any less. He still forgets that told me years ago that a guy pulled up with it in a truck bed and walked away with $50 for it. The guy practically steals vintage gear from desperate veteran players. He's got more than a few people out to get him from what I hear...
