she broke her amp

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi everyone,

So, my girlfriend has a Cube30 Bass, but unfortunately, the amp broke, so until it returns from where it's being fixed at, she has no other way but to play it unplugged.
I was wondering if there's any small software that would do the job. The audio quality doesn't have to be the best, just enough for her to be able to play.
Thanks for your time

PS: I forgot to mention that she's using an onboard sound card

The problem is you're asking bass players on advice involving sex....

Does she have an iPhone, iPod Touch,on an iPad? There are apps for that...

I use 2 long RCA cables and put a Stereo RCA to 1/4 inch adapter on one end for my bass and then a Stereo RCA to 1/8 inch adapter one the other end for the Line In on my computer.

You can also plug the RCA cord from the computer in to a pedal and then just use a regular guitar cord to plug in to the bass.

You might have to select the input as "Line In" under your sound card options to hear anything though.

Is the sound card needed in order for that method to work?

Do you have an audio interface? mbox or something? plug into that then into the computer, download guitarrig or ampegSVX and get to playing. Those programs can be purchased....OR you can do the more resourceful thing and torrent them.

Yes, but the on board sound card should be fine for that if her computer has a Line In jack. If it's a laptop you might want to just use headphones, I don't know if built in laptop speakers would handle it. I've got Windows XP too.

Nop, no audio interface. All she has is her bass guitar and the 1/4", 1/8" cables and adapters.

Thanks for everyone's help, by the way.

Ok, thanks, I'll give it a try.
Oh, by the way, which software would you suggest?

So that makes it O.K. then ?

I guess personal responsibility and morals don't exist either.

Same people that think it's O.K. probably also download music for free, but would have a fit if it was their music and their royalties

You don't need software unless you want to record the bass or put FX on it with the computer. You should be able to hear it without software.

You will probably have to select "Line In" under "Control Panel-->Sounds and Audio Devices-->Audio-->Sound Recording-->Volume" on the computer.

If you want more EQ for the tone, I'd use a pedal in the chain or look in to some free software, but I'll let others chime in for that as I haven't looked in to it very much lately and the stuff I use is way outdated.
