The United States Postal Service might be your best bet.
I sent a bass in a hard shell touring case from Cambridge MA to Hawaii overnight via FedEx for about 250 bucks. It got there on time and in undamaged. |

My past experiences with USPS have been very good, low prices and packages always arrive on time if not early; and I used to live in Puerto Rico. |

In your case it seems USPS is the way to go. |

All shippers carry some risk. over time I've had to file claims with most of them - I've missed DHL but mostly as they aren't really in the states anymore... USPS is the only time I've gotten beat on a damage claim. I still use them but only where I know it's something they can't kill...
