So here's the deal. I've played Ampeg SVT 4 Pro's since '97. 1500 gigs give or take with the 4 Pro, so I obviously know this amp well. I've owned about eveything out there with the exception of the other 3 listed above. I took the plunge and bought them, so I'll have all 4 amps here next week. I've got 3 Eden 410xlt's so let the shoot out begin!!!!
I'll report back as soon as I can. |

I used a WT800 for about 2 years and I will say I like the WTB1000 MUCH more. More open sounding, and the Dynamic Boost helps out a ton to my ears. The Tube drive thing is kind of a joke, but overall it's a pretty killer amp.
Can't wait until they're all here next week!!!!! |

I've always read/heard that about the 4Pro and I just had a gig w/ a 4Pro+SVT810 as the backline and couldn't believe I was getting all the juice out of it I was (was mono-bridged, properly into the cab too ) and it was still not 1200W-loud as it should have been. I know what 1200W sounded like from my Titan V12 and what 900W sounds like from my M9 and the 4Pro wasn't anything close.
Anyway, fanboi rant done and subbed. |

My first real bass amplifier was a Bassman 50 I got in '77, followed up by a Bassman 135. I always loved their tone, but they were so underpowered I couldn't really gig with them. I'm very excited to play through this amp!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

| | Registered User | | Join Date: Jan 2002 Location: Hoffman Estates, Illinois | | Just a bit of a teaser. The Mesa will be here Tuesday, but in the meanwhile I've been fiddling with the Fender. It has by far the best Tube Overdrive I've ever played through. VERY usable, unlike most overdrives which you could never gig with, this one definately would work at a gig. This amp sounds like it's all tube. I used an SVT for about 5 years and a Mesa 400+ for a year so I do know what all tube sounds like. The TB-1200 is buttery smooth and loud. Just add a bit of overdrive and it is VERY SVT-like.
I do about 125 gigs a year and most amps I've bought never made it to a gig because I could tell the sound wasn't there. Different story with the Fender TB-1200. This baby will see gig action soon!!! | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
