| | | | Should I replace GK 800RB?

Need some advice/opinions.
I now run a GK 800RB in a rack, with a generic 215 cab with JBLs and a 210 Hartke Cab with those aluminum cones that I'm not entirely gung ho about.
I get a great sound but the load in/load factor is too much, so I'm mulling over some ideas about changing the setup.
I could nto account the workhorse the 800RB has been (it owes me no favors) and just get it overhauled, put it in a smaller, lighter rack, and replace the two cabinets with a neo 115 with a horn.
-or-
I could replace the monster rig with a combo like the GK MB212.
I've played a Fender Rumble 115 which I love the sound of, but I'm worried it won't have enough juice for playing out.
Ideas? Thoughts? Recommendations?
Thanks

| | | | I would keep the 800rb, put it in a smaller rack and maybe replace it with a neo or mbe series cabinet. Perhaps the mbe 212 or 410...

If you're looking for lighter options, then I'd go and test drive a selection of neo based cabs.

I am not a big hartke fan soo... and the rumble 115 isn't gonna cut it for "bigger" venues but should work fine for the smaller stuff. Final call goes to adding the neo cabs. Try em' out before you buy though. Good luck!

| | | | Keep it! Put her in a three space shallow Gator or SKB rack which weighs pretty much nothing and you will have a very portable head. Then try out some neo loaded cabs. There is a lot to choose from in the lightweight world these days. I have a Schroeder 212 that just kills and it weighs 36 pounds!

What I've found is that with cabinets, the more you are willing to spend, the more you get for your money in terms of the size/output ratio. I use pretty spendy 2x10s (epifany) that sound huge - but I've played through cheap 2x10s that sound like crap. Were I you, I'd check out some higher-end cabs... That head is a good one, so unless you wanted to save weight on that, I'd leave it be. Take a look at Bergantino Neo cabs - everyone I know who has them loves them.

| | | | I would keep the head too. I'd ditch the 2x15 and get another 210, or get rid of both and get a 15/6 in 4 ohms. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
