I want to get rid of my ampeg 810e so I can get a 4x10 and a 1x15 cab. Im sick of transporting it so I figured that would be my best option.
I know someone thats in a melodic hardcore band that has 2 fender cabs and would be willing to trade. Im not sure what models they are but I have a picture. I plan on seeing his band tonight to hear the cabs, but can anyone tell me what models these are, how they sound and if you think it would a fair trade?
Thanks

While the Fender stack was good value I do not think it came anywhere close to the Ampeg 810 for grunt, wallop and sheer playing enjoyment. With the Fender there was always the sense of a "limit" beyond which you could not go, whereas the Ampeg gave no hint of that. I remember at the time feeling that this came from the 115 cab more than the 410. I wouldn't do the trade - I currently own a Bergantino NV610 which IMO beats them both hands down and is easy to schlep. Hope this helps, just my .02. |

As far as I know, the power handling on them is a bit lower, even combined, than what you would get with your ampeg cab, so depending on your head, that could be problematic in and of itself. |

2 15's is another story....
Better all around to stay with the 8x10, IMO.

| | | | You've said you're sick of transporting 810. Can't say for the tone cause I have no experiences but moving two cabs is more difficult although they are smaller.
What about some 610? They're smaller/lighter and come close to Ampeg's 810. |

I don't think the theoretical micro phase issue is a problem with this old Eden/Ampeg pairing: | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
