Should I be using the active input?

I have a non active pickups going through and active preamp, and what I'm wondering is if I should be using the active input on amplifiers? I've been using it through my 15 watt amp with what seems to be no ill effects, but I'm just curious.

No, use the regular input unless you're seriously clipping it.

+1 the 'active' input is typically just a 10 or 15 db padded input, only to be used with extremely hot output basses. If the passive input sounds good (i.e., does not clip when the gain control is set appropriately) it is always better to use it, since it doesn't have that extra padding circuitry between the bass and the amp.
