Shuttle 9.0 + GS212 = Dead Speakers?

Sign in to disble this ad
Will I kill an Aguilar GS212 (4 ohms / 600 watts) by playing it regularly with a Shuttle 9.0 (900 watts @ 4 ohms)? I know I don't have to crank the thing up all the time, but when I need a little extra volume from my setup, how will I know when I'm getting close to killing the cabinet?

You will be just fine specially because those arent very efficient cabs.

It's only rated at 900 watts. You don't have to use all of them. You'll know your getting close when the speakers start to "fart out" (that is excessive flapping of the cones). And technically your not ruining the cab; the box will be fine. You'll just have a torn cone (or two).

Oh, just the speakers? Well, heck with them, then... As long as the classy carpeting is okay.

Not to worry. Both the classy carpeting and the speakers will be fine! You have plenty of power handling.

Used to run my GS212-4ohm with my DB750 at rediculous levels and it was fine so you won't have any probs what the 9.

I was thinking of getting a gs212 for my shuttle 9, any other current user insight? I played a SVT 4 pro through a gs412 and thought it sounded darn good.

I'm going to use that exact settup while my db750 is getting fixed. I'll chime in later after some rehearsal time. I can tell you it sounds pretty good at home though.

I used a GS212 for years. It's a great box. Your'e ears will let you know when you are pushing it too hard. it's very obvious. Your'e bigger concern is underpowering the carpet. It can cause premature fiber burn out.
