Shuttle 9.0 Q's for the tech savy / engineers

So I replaced the stock ruby tube ( well chinese but anyways ) with an NOS RCA for now.

For the enigneer: Are both triodes used in the shuttle 9 and where? Are they cascaded? One right after the other, or does one triode feed into the preamp and the other post?

My basses have HOT outputs and I am looking for the cleanest most ammount of gain I can get.

I have alot of tubes to go thru: JJ , RCA , Phillips, JAN, GE..
AX7's / AT7's / AY7's / BH7's ( I LOVE this tube ) / DW7's even..nos! I think a magnavox or two too.

And what is the plate voltage? I havent put the pins to a voltmeter yet.

I think what I'll do is put up some clips at some point of the different tubes at different gain settings.

There are a number of us who would be very interested in your findings. Please let us know what happens.

FWIW a lot of people - myself included - tried different tubes in the Shuttle 6.0 and heard very little change in tone.

The engineer Agedhorse has posted many times that he specifically designed the preamp so the variance of tubes would have little effect on the sound.

Can't win - because people like to roll tubes and hear the difference in sound. Some amp maker should install some kind of revolver that you can spin and it selects different tubes.
