Shuttle Max 12.0 Orange OBC115 combination

Last evening I decided to move my amp away from the 2 OBC115s I have connected to it. Normally I use both of the two power amps, each "amp" carrying an 8 ohm load to each cabinet. Well, since I only had one 25 foot speaker cable, I decided to run one line from one of the "amps" and then a shorter cable from the first cabinet to the second, making it a total 4 ohm load of cabinets (each cab is an 8 ohm cabinet). What I ended up with was a really "cut" sound lacking deep bass even after turning the volume up. The cabinets are wired in parallel.... Any one have any explanation why this is?

I have no problem running each cab as an 8 ohm load off of both amp "A" and "B",... just wondering why it sounds so thin when both cabinets are made into an 4 ohm load using just 1 amplifier in the Shuttlemax12.0 Is this normal?

Have you tested the cabs with a multitester to make sure of they're 4 Ohms when connected together?

No I have not, are you thinking that they may be wired in series from the factory by mistake? Im not saying they sound bad linked together, just a bit "thin". I guess I just dont know if this is a normal thing when taking two 8 ohm cabs, linking them together to make a 4 ohm load.

That is strange...I have a SM12.0, but have mostly been running my SM9.2 these days. If memory serves, each power section of the 12.0 puts out 600 watts at 4 ohms. If you run both outputs into 8 ohms they claim 375 watts each for a total of 750 watts...am I remembering that right? So you're giving it more power by running two 8 ohm loads than one 4 ohm load...could that be it?

You are correct. It is putting out more power running both amps at 8 ohms(750). 1 4ohm load is stated to be 600watts.
Do you think that could be why it sounds a bit thin? I just want to make sure that the rig is performing the way it should be thats all..... Realistically.... I could never ever imagine having to have more power than I am running with the two 8 ohm loads into these cabs..

Are the cabinets stacked together or spread apart?
Has your listening position changed?

I have tried them stacked. I have even unplugged the second cabinet while letting a string ring. It is a considerable amount of sound that goes into the first speaker while doing this. Weird..... Like I said, I dont mind running each cab off of the separate amps, and I cant ever imagine needing more, just want to know that everything is operating as it should be..

600W from one side should be plenty of thunder.

Most likely the positioning of the cabs and/or your good self conspired to cancel out your lows.
