Shuttlemax 12.0 - poweramp redunancy

Sign in to disble this ad
Thinking about the Genz Benz 12.0. And the real world likelyhood of avoiding a failure due two the dual power modules, and two channels. I understand that the power modules with power supplies can operate seperately. But what else is in there that could potentially cause a total failure? With dual outputs and dual channels, what are the weak links? Trying to get an understanding as to wether this aleviates the need for a backup?

There is always the remote possibility of failure of any of the circuits common to the signal path of both channels in the preamp. This is very unlikely though, out of ten's of thousands of amps, I can recall only a couple of this kind of failure in the past 10 years.

The redundant features (specifically power supplies and power amps) target by far the most common types of failures seen in bass amps as a whole.

Thanks for the response. One less thing to move (backup head) is appealing.

I'm really trying to convince myself to order one of these to test. I know it'll never replace my SVT, but if it comes close it could maybe be worth it. Even with three flights of stairs just to get it to my car, I can't complain too much about moving my SVT though...

It has a habit of doing that. What cabs are you driving with it?

I'm in the same boat. I still greatly prefer the tone of my tube gear, but it's creepy how fast the smaller size and weight made me start choosing to take the 12.0 to gigs. Even with 2 NEOX 212T cabs it's no big deal to load in/out.
