Sign in to disble this ad
I'm looking to purchase a micro head and don't really have the opportunity to try them out. Can someone describe the signature tone of these brands: Eden, Aguilar, Markbass, Genz Benz, GK and Tecamp? (How they're inherently voiced, as almost all heads have a particular sound built in.)
Thanks.

To the original poster, GK and Genz are more clean and Hi-fi sounding with lots of headroom. I believe Eden and Aggie are voiced with a warmer more rounded tone, i could be wrong about the Eden, no experience with it or the TecAmp. Markbass you should know since its in your signature.

I'll let others comment on the other brands.... Don't forget CABS have just as much voice as the amp head and sometimes even more so. Some Amp heads do not play along well with different cabs, so that is also something to consider.
If you have the coin, fEARful cabs are wonderfully natural sounding with no "voice" so to speak, so what you would hear through the DI is what you hear through the speakers.
If you can not A/B them at guitar center etc. check out some youtube videos (but at least use good heaphones or decent sound system). |

Genz benz: Streamliner vs shuttlemax
GK: MB vs RB
Again, just check out youtube and you will get a rough idea what you are getting yourself into. |

And more seriously - you just have to use your ears. There are MANY soundclips on youtube. My friend tested some amps, here is his youtube channel http://www.youtube.com/user/mateuszp...?feature=watch

albertorigoni has a few on YT where he plays through the Aguilar Tone Hammer 500, but TBH I don't like the way he EQd them. Much better to check out the TH500 thread here on TB for some better sound clips. I was unimpressed with the TH500 based on 1st impressions until I was able to hear a wider selection of clips. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
