Similarity/Difference between RS212 and RS210/112 pair?

Sign in to disble this ad
I currently have a RS210/RS112 pair of cabs. And love them together. But dragging two vs one to a smaller venue is often unneeded. I find the single 112 may not be quite enough, and the single 210 may be not quite beefy enough.

So, I usually have to decide between the single RS210, or just the RS112. I've also heard some whispers of boomy or whoofiness of the 112 (which I've noticed a bit of on it's own) and wonder if the 212 has a clearer nature than the single 12 that may put it somewhere close to my current combination of the two cabinets.

I'm wondering if a single RS212 on it's own would be real close to the pair of 210/112?

Thoughts?

Why do you feel the 210 is not beefy enough? Are we talking about gigs without PA support?

Because "to me" the 210 alone doesn't have as solid of a low end as the 112... not as thick sounding. And the 112 alone doesn't have as much clarity and punch as the 210. Together they're perfect sounding 'for me', but would be nice to have a single cab solution for smaller gigs if the 212 does so.

That's why I went for a 212 and two 210s. The 212 on it's own isn't that awkward to move and has lovely thick mids and plenty of low end
