Simple question for answering

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a GK goldline head rated 500w at 4ohms

i have an acoustic 4x10, rated 400w at 8ohms

i have an amped 18E, rated 175w at 8ohms

how should i run my cabs? daisy chain? or each through its own output from the head?

or am i retarded for using this combo of cabs?

Unless the GK head has two channels, daisy chaining and running right off the head are the same thing.

Try the two cabs together and see how it sounds at the level you need to run. BTW, if you were retarded, I doubt you would use that word in the casual way you have.

Both to the amp or daisy chain is basically the same parallel connection. Your 18 is going to be your problem area. Flat out your 500W will be split equally between both. 250W into your 400W 4x10 and 250W into your 175W 18. One cabinet is cruising along why the other is screaming for mercy.

That said you have 350W you can safely use. If you only actually use 200W you'll be fine. You will have to listen for distress from your 18 and if you hear any turn down.

+1

One must also consider that cabinet sensitivity, not just power handling with affect the outcome.
