Any thoughts, opinions, suggestions.....

Check-out the Ibanez Promethean 1x10. Does a great job for me.

If you're a DIYer, Low-cost DIY practice/coffeehouse tweeterless 110 [long].

In one cab I have a BP102 tuned to 34 Hz in a 1.6 ft^3 cab (displacement limited to 75 watts according to WinISD), crossed over at 700Hz to a fabric dome tweeter. In another I'm using an S2010 in a 1.35 ft^3 cab (1.25 ft^3 after speaker and ports) stand alone (at present), which is displacement limited to about 100 watts.

Both are good for what I want a 1x10 for. The BP102 clearly has more low end, but is less efficient, larger and requires a crossover and mid. It may just be my best sounding cab. The S2010 cab is smaller, lighter, more efficient, can take more power and gets up to 4KHz or so without a tweeter. It can handle a low B, but not as well as the BP102 cab can.

If I had to recommend one, it would be the S2010 cab because the size, weight and simpliity trump the sound improvement the the BP102 cab gives. The BP102 cab stays on site, the S2010 cab travels.

I also had an Ampeg Portabass 1x10 cab that I loved. I still have the parts. The cab developed a rattle.

The Epifani is a great little cab, check out the Euphonic Audio Wizzy 10 too! You'd have to special order that one in 8 ohms though, but I don't think there's any extra cost.

A couple more... Acme makes the Low B-1 and Bill Fitzmaurice has the Jack 10 (another DIY project though).

EA Wizzy was my first thought.

If you are looking for small but not married to 10" you should check the new fEARful crazy8. Assuming you are a DIY, or willing to have it built for you.

I have the Eden EX110 and love it!!

It's got a wizzer on it, supposed to be great with stand-up!.....hopefully I will have the opportunity to try that soon!

Punchy, light....I use it with my Eden WT-405 and it great for smaller gigs and studio stuff.

I've had a slew of 1x10's and an s2010 loaded cab properly tuned little is a nice sounding cab.

That said, I popped a 3012HO into the same exact cab that housed the 2010... It goes from a great rehearsal cab to an animal.

IMO dont think in terms of speaker size, but instead in terms of cab size.

Start here: why is it you want a 1x10?

The crazy eight has merit. The current crop of eights can move enough air to work in a jazz setting. Seems crazy to me. I remember hauling a head and 2 15's to jazz gigs thirty five years ago.

I wouldn't hold my breath for them be out there as a public domain design. That GB guy has design chops that ought to make him some dough. His crew of builders are where I'd go for one of those cabs. It is the right thing to do.

I don't think in terms of speaker size. I think in terms of displacement.

The "Crazy8", along with other new greenboy designs, will only be available through authorized builders. It hasn't been officially released yet, so stay tuned..

I want to use it with my 210 cab on medium size gigs when just a 210 doesn't really cut it.

Ok, so after some research I discovered that there are only a few companies that now make a single 10" cab. Like, Epifani, Genz-Benz, Eden, fEarful, Ibanez, Euphonic Audio, Acme and maybe one or two that I may not know about. And they all have similar specs.
However, my next observation is that almost every one has a price tag of $400 and up.
Only the Eden EX110 came in around $200. My concern is, is this a "get what you pay for" scenario?
Any thoughts or comments on this...?

In that case to get the best result it should be from the same manufacturer as your 2x10, loaded with the same driver.

Yamaha BBT110s.
If you can find one, they are nice.
I think they are discontinued.

Yes Bill, that would be the ideal way to go, however Avatar does not make a single 10" cab.
I also have an Acme 210 cab, but have been using the Avatar more. Acme's single 10" is also on the pricey side.
Have heard nothing but good things about your cabs, again, just a little out of my price range right now...
unless there's a demo/used/floor model hanging around...
