Sitting on your amp

Sign in to disble this ad
Anybody ever do gigs ( not just practice) sitting on their cabs?
I usually sit and was thinking I would have a more compact setup and not having to bring a chair is one less thing to remember.
Maybe just a 15 in a box.
This is obviously for smaller gigs.
I don't have a single 15 in a box, or I would just try one, of course.
Thanks

I have one cabinet with a single 10 downward firing.. looks like an african drum... it's great for small venues that don't allow amps.

i've never done a gig sitting on my amp, but i've done plenty of practices/rehearsals like that. not to mention that when i've got more people than chairs at my house, i tend to sit on it there too. it's a 1x15.

Another one for only at practice. It's awesome to "feel" the bass without cranking it up ridiculously loud.

I sit on my GK MB115. I hate it when my huge booty bumps the controls, though

I used to do this all the time when I played with big-old cabs... Kinda silly, kinda fun. Made hearing myself a bit difficult, but hey - that was back when I was mostly playing keggers...

I've seen it done just recently. A group was playing on a sidewalk in
front of a store. The bass player was sitting on his 115 combo amp.
It looked like a good idea to me.

He was really groovin'. Even if I hadn't thought it was a good idea,
I would have forgiven him. It's the music that counts.

There has been a huge surplus of innuendo on TB's amps pages for the past few days...

And it makes me giggle while I sit at work bored and by myself. 8 customers and $45 dollars in sales in the last 4 hours. Cool.

You are not worried about breaking it? I have an MB 115 & I'm not the smallest guy either and there is no way I would sit on it. It's not exactly made of oak, it's lighter weight material, (ply I think)...It might support you now, but I think eventually you are going to hear a loud crack or cause significant damage to it...

sometimes ...

GK MB210s

And yeah, I don't have to turn up as loud to "hear" myself.

I sat on my avatar 112 for a couple songs one time. Im surprised how much I could feel the music. maybe the cab doesnt have enough bracing? it's otherwise a solid cab...

I have done it. it's fine a low volume but immediately becomes muddy when you have to crank it. I just could not "hear" the notes at moderate to high volume.

I sit on my Bassman 250/115 during rehearsal once in a while, its a great seat, but never during a gig because the 2x12 is too tall.....and never at home either for some reason.

Hey mnsirhead,
I'm intrigued by the African downfiring speaker/stool Thimbu.
Been thinking about something like that forever.
Want to tell us more?

While we are semi on the subject, this one time, my (hawt female) singer sat on my cab while I shredded. It was epic.

When I played in my school orchestra there wasn't room for an amp and a chair so I'd sit on my amp. It was a Torque T1001EB. Bit big but it was all I had.

I had a tuck-and-roll Kustom 100 combo that was downright comfy...
