SKB shallow rack vs Gator

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm currently using a shallow (10.5")2 space rack for my GK700RBII, and have been very happy with it save for the flimsy red latches on the back; I see Gator also makes a shallow 2 space rack, albeit a bit (15.5") deeper. I like the look of the rear latches much better and wonder if anyone is using the shallow Gator with their GK.

I used the 3-space when I had the power conditioner, but downsized it to the 2 some years back; never had a problem with ventilation even in FL heat. I really like the looks of the Gator, as I've had problems with the red latches being very stiff.

I think you might be using the overall (lids on) measurement.

I am pretty sure that the Gator S racks are 12" deep, and have rear rails.

I use them for my Carvin B1500, and love them.

Do most rack/cases accomodate the same width amps? My GK fits the SKB, and I am wondering if it will fit (width-wise) in the gator rack.

If you are talking about left to right, yes. Usually rack "ears" are needed to be attached to amps like the 700RBII, or already come with them attached. 19" is the standard. I also use a SKB rack, and it's internal depth is 12", without lids. It's kinda old, so maybe it got discontinued.

True, I have the rack ears, which I inverted so as to fit within the front lid. The more I look at it, the bigger and heavier the gator seems to be; think I'll stick with the SKBs for now.
