Slave Amplifier Help

Sign in to disble this ad
So.. I want to slave an amplifier with my WT550 head and into two cabs.. Both at 4ohms and between 500-600 watts..

1) When i connect my head to the amplifier.. I've noticed the amps have a Channel 1 and Channel 2 IN w/XLRs.. So.. this is the question.. if I only plug into the first channel.. am i going to plug both outs (channel 1 and 2) into my cabs respectively or series connect Channel 1 out to cab 1 and then from cab 1 to cab 2?

so basically.. how do i run the head in stereo

2) Are there ANY 1U amplifiers around 500-600 watts out there?!

and if this doesn't work.. I assume that i could use the DI out of my head and run it into a power amp and bridge the amp into the second cab... So my Head powers one cab and the slave powers the other... yes?

Are the cabs you are using identical? If not, I would probably run one cab off the head and one off the poweramp so you can have independent output level control for each cab.

If you are looking for a small single channel power amp, check out the SWR amplite. It's only a half rack space and 400 watts.

They are different cabs.. So i'd use both the head and the power amp.. but the cab I need to use the poweramp for would ideally be using a 750watt power source... know of any 750 watt bridged power amps at 1U?

You have a stereo power amp (make and model???). This gives you three power sections along with the Eden.

I would use the eden as a pre-amp connecting the line out (or effects send) to the power amp channel one input. If you look at the back of the power amp there may be a switch to parallel the amps two inputs. This should be engaged. it's not the bridge switch. Connect cab 1 to channel one and cab 2 to channel two. Plug your bass into the Eden and play while you advance the two channel level controls until you get as loud as you need. If one cab seems louder than the other you can compensate with the level controls.

i was looking at the Crown XLS series - but they don't have a switch to run the channels in parallel. It's also 2U.. :/
