Small amp and monitor for lessons

Hey all,
I am taking more lessons on soon and as such I'd like to get a small amp and monitor system that I can carry from my house to the studio I teach at. There is a small Fender Rumble 15 but if I'm going to buy one I'd like to buy something that can really show the tone of my Ernie Ball and Sansamp. Also, small powered monitors (single or stereo) to listen to songs to play along with amp? That would save me a lot of money.

I get my payments in advance and will be getting about $450 this month. Would like to spend $250-$300. If I don't get an amp (I'm highly considering just getting monitors) I will get two and also use them for recording at home.

Ampeg BA112, BA110 if lighter weight is a priority. Might not quite sound like a monitor but does have CD/MP3 jacks.

Thanks! Not sure that fills my monitor purposes though so recommendations on that are good.
