Small Cab - which one?

Hey Guys, any thoughts...

No to long ago I ended up moving a lot of gear around, and now I am seriously lacking in the smaller cab department. My only cab right now is a Aguilar DB212. I am doing a lot of small gigs, and have been using my Ampeg B15. Love the B15, one of the best out there and perfect for what I am doing, but I don't love the schlep or taking that amp out in the first place.

I have an Aguilar TH350, and would like to find a nice small cab to go with it.

Like I said, this would be for my smaller gigs, and practice. Typical smaller gig would be in big hotel lobby - me and two acoustic guitars. Or back porch dinner kind of stuff, me, a guitar, and a keyboard. Vox and other instruments through a SMALL pa, and I go through my amp. Practice is practice -- tiny room with a dummer, and guitars and key playing small amps.

Option 1: Aguilar SL112 -- I wouldn't pick this on my own, but I have a dude trying to straight up trade for a parts P Bass. I put the P Bass on CL for $450.

Option 2: Ampeg SVT 210? Don't know much about these.

I used to have a single compact 15, and will again, but plan on a custom build, so that is a ways off.

I am really nervous about a single 12" cab. Tried a GS112 and did not like it. Tried a Bear ML112, and did not care for the mid driver vibe, so I am counting out 2 or 3 way cabs. Not looking to spend a bunch - so no $1000 boutique cabs.

Any thoughts on these two cabs, or any other cab out there?

Have you tried any of the PF cabs out? The PF-115LF priced very nicely. You will have to go and play through a bunch of cabs to figure out what works for your tonal tastes.

My first vote would be an Aguilar DB112. It's not the smallest 112 out there, but it is portable, and doesn't have the mid-scoop like the GS112. Used cabs run in the $400 - $450 range.

I'd also consider a GK Neo 112. For ~$300 used, it's a great value, and puts out a ton of sound.

I just read someone else (maybe Tom B) saying some good things about the GK Neo 112.

I'll look into that one a bit more.

Personally, I'd stick with the DB212. Great cab, and plenty of volume. Anything smaller, well, that's LESS.

If you can find a used Yamaha BB110S somewhere, I suggest grabbing it. I recently got one for $200 and couldn't be happier - you would be amazed at the low end *and* volume you can get out of a well-designed single 10" cabinet. I will be using it at a medium-sized club venue tonight (with ample PA support mind you). For small gigs, lounges etc. it's perfect all by itself.

Also a mention for the G-K NEO112.

Try the MarkBass New York 121. Small, light, and sounds great. About $500 new, but u can catch 15% off or find one used.

How much power are you pushing? If you only need about 300 watts, an Eden EX112 works nicely. I use one with my Carvin BX500 head, or as an extension for my Carvin MB10 Micro Bass Combo.

12's get a lot of love on here and rightfully so. I personally started out on a 2x10 and liked it. Personal preference based on the sound/tone you are looking for and also the lighter the cab I am sure the better your back will feel in the long run.

any chance you can demo a Bergantino HD 112?? I have two of them and was recently blown away by what one can do at a good sized gig. Still haven't even been able to really push them live as they get too loud for the stage (and I'm not exaggerating)
