Small combo into powered sub

I was wondering what your opinion is on running my bass into a Ampeg BA112, then through the line out going into a powered sub. Would there be any damage? Would the sub frequencies (if there are any) drown out the mids and highs? Would it be loud enough to gig with?

I don't know but if you already have an Ampeg combo then why not upgrade to an Ampeg head and cab. Why mess around with combo's? Just a thought!
