Small, good sounding combo amp...to replace a GK MB 150s

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a GK MB 15s combo and have decided that I should upgrade as it does sound quite boxy.
I need something that just sounds good, open and does not get in the way so much.

Now I am thinking as to what I might get to replace it.

I need some volume and am not looking for something heavy, and do not need a complex EQ ( I don't really need one at all...), pre-shape features or effect send/return.
I like the Hevos midget combo but think it may be a little heavy and the PJ briefcase doesn't do the volume I need...
I am not considering markbass or trace .
What would you do?
Thanks for your suggestions!

If boxy sound is the problem it's because the cabinet portion isn't lined inside. You can remedy that yourself for very little cost as long as you can operate a screwdriver. There's a pretty detailed thread you can search up here with some pics and all of it being done to an mb210. Same applies to the entire line of mb cabs and combo's.

I'd at least do that as it's cheap and easy. If that doesn't get you what you want or there are other reasons for a change by all means get something you like but the boxy/boomy sound is due to the lack of lining.

I was unaware of that. Thank you!
I think I'll be find with a screw driver.
You don't have a link to that thread handy?
