I realize this probably pops up A LOT but i need some help. All ive owned are combos up until this point. Well, now i have a 410 cab and i need an amp. Ive read up on some info but its still a bit foreign to me. What i need is a small light weight amp for my 400w 8ohm cab. I just dont want to buy something and ruin the amp or cab. Any help would be great.

All depends on what your playing and what tone is in your head really.
Im using a Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0 and love it....weighs maybe 4 lbs. A bit too focused in the upper mids for me..I find I almost need to scoop the head to dial in what Im after but its personal preference. For your power rating Id go with the new 9.0.
Im currently ordering a SWR headlite to compare side by side with the 6.0. The headlite will be to underpowered at 8ohms for your needs.
Others dig the Markbass stuff...no experience... I say make a trip to a major retailer and test away. If not most online retailers have stellar return policies.
The search is your friend.

No experience but some people have a liking for the Ampeg SVT7 PRO. 15 lbs and 600 watts @ 8ohms. Class D amp. |

At 8ohm the Headlite wont give you the headroom...I think its a great amp (or hope) better better suited at 4ohms

Well, now ive narrowed it down to the shuttle or one of the GK. Ill have to see if theres a shuttle to try out at GC. The problem is id have to play one of their horribly setup instruments.

| | | | I would take my own bass but im not sure what they would say.
I tried a markbass amp and wasnt a fan but i cant recall what model or anything. The local GC has a number of markbass amps so ill try a few.

They will log in your bass so there is no hassles and off to the racks you go. They will usually "say" this person is serious about making a selection!
