Small Practise Amp/Briitish Sound?

Sign in to disble this ad
Is there anyone who makes a small practise amp in the$100.00-$300.00 range that might replicate the 1960s British sound? Possibly a Crate Orange. Probably not but thought I would ask. Thanks.

You might consider the Fender Bronco 40 modelling amp. Along with the stock amp models built in, the Bronco has the Fuse interface, which allows you to download and fiddle with all kinds of models. I'm sure there is a Brit sounding amp model or two in there, and it's only $249. Something to look into at least. I think I might be getting one, looks like it could be fun, and the couple of user testimonies I've read so far seem to indicate it might be a decent investment.

Thank you Cliff. This looks like what I need. The YouTube vid shows that you can plug into a computer to get various effects including vintage. Only seen good reviews also. Thanks again.

Another option is the Line 6 Studio 110. It has a "hidden" BRIT modeling based on a '68 Marshall Super Bass. These amps do not get much love on TB, but other than the odd way some of the knobs function, I find it a surprisingly good, loud and deep sounding amp for its 1 cubic foot size.

That Line 6 does indeed look interesting. Sounds good in that video, and to me the small size is an important selling point.

I too lub my Line 6 Studio 110. If I was especially into the Brit thing, though, I would have to take a lok at this:

Ashdown Engineering | Bass Amplification

Pricing appears all over the map ... discontinued?

Anyhows. Looks swett.

Decided on a Line 6 Lowdown Studio 110 combo. Good reviews, Has a British setting, and within my budget. Thanks to all that helped.

On a somewhat related note: I know what people mean when they talk about the "British" sound with regard to guitar amps (i.e., more gain and upper midrange), but I'm not familiar with it in regard to bass amps. Do people generally mean the same thing?
