I've been lugging around heavy gear for 32 years and I'm getting tired of it quite frankly. I currently use a 73' SVT and a fridge. I dig the tone, but at the end of the night when I get home, I have to carry it inside and that just blows. Is there a smaller rig that will give me a close to an SVT tone, but weighs much less? We always have PA support by the way, and I don't like the mini SVT. It dosen't have enough balls IMO.

Or... a B15N?
JimmyM will chime in here in a minute and preach the merits of B15N all over you.
And... when he does.. let me take that '73 with 32 years of hard-rock mojo off your hands.
(Or you could rock a V4B and and a modern sealed 4x10 (SWR or Avatar) into the PA.) |

Have you considered getting a Berg NV610 instead of lugging yer fridge? I own one of each and know you'll find the NV way easier to tote, plus you'll probably prefer its tone to boot.

The Berg 6x10 would probably be mighty for sure.
But depending upon how fast you play, and how much definition you need, two lightweight 1x15s might be the answer.
I've rocked a '70s SVT into two 1x15s (EV TL606s or Mesa Diesel's) for 14 years.
The 8x10 gives you lots more definition, but the ported 1x15s put out oceans of low end... and a bit of fuzz to boot.
(Srsly, though... sell me your '73 SVT head. I'll build an altar of fuzz for it.) |

There's no way you can get anything "close to an SVT tone" without the weight . . . IMHO, YMMV, etc . . . . . .
Although JimmyM and others DO seem to like the VT bass pedal . . . |

hey, i did say "darn good". i don't know that there's more you can ask out of a solid state device that's imitating a tube amp.

The pedals weigh less than 5 lbs and can drive a PA directly BTW
