Smaller Ampeg Cabinet vs. Larger.

Need some advice please. I am now using an Ampeg SVT2PRO with an Ultra 8 10 Cab. My question is which of the smaller Ampeg cabinets would be a good pairing with the SVT2PRO head. My rig is getting a little heavy to carry around to the smaller gigs.

(2) SVT 210AV (sealed)
(2) SVT 15EN (ported)
(1) 410HLF (ported)
(2) SVT 410HE (modular 810 with tweeters)

Your options are limited with Ampeg.

How small do you want?

I always hated hauling the 410HLF. Ampegs tilt-back dolly/caster system works great on the 810 and 610, but the 410 is too short to tilt back and roll without being an uncomfortable SOB. I really found the 610 was easier to load.

Granted the 610 doesn't qualfy as a small cab.
I prefer a 410 or a 1x15 with four casters.

Thanks for the response kranahan! I think I just want to know if I went with a smaller cab wouls it be compatible with the SVT2PRO. I've always wondered about the 4-10 cab. Do you know the power rating on the cabs you listed. And is the ported 4-10HLF version deeper sounding than the modular 4-10HE with tweeter. Thanks for your time kranahan.

@prd004. Thank you for your response. Is the 6-10 cab a whole lot lighter and deeper sounding than the 4-10. I appreciate the advice on the sound quality of the Ampeg product,as I'm sure everyone has different opinions of the product. My main concern is that the head will be compatible with the above mentioned cabs suggested.

the 610 actually isn't deeper than the 410. it's somewhere in between the 810e and the 410hlf, probably a little bit closer to the 810e. as long as you have a total 4 ohm load, you're good to go with whatever cabs you decide on. but if you have an ultra, it's a LOT heavier than the regular 810e.

410 hlf is deeper sounding and 4 ohm. the 410HE is 8ohm so you wouldn't be able to use it on its own with an SVT2 (?)

The SVT-2 can only handle 2 or 4 ohms.
In short, two 8 ohm cabinets = 4 ohms and two 4 ohm cabinets = 2 ohms.
Two SVT 210 AVs (8 ohms each) = 4 ohms. Two SVT 410 HLFs (4 ohms each) = 2 ohms.

The sealed and ported debate is strictly what you prefer.
