smaller mid drivers?

Sign in to disble this ad
I’m reloading a GK 2x10 combo, and want to put a mid driver in place of the stock tweeter. The hole is about 3.5” in diameter, and there isn’t room to enlarge it. Are there any GOOD mid drivers that will fit this hole?

Please and thanks.

No. The smallest pro-sound mid drivers are 6.5 inchers. It is possible to use a higher quality tweeter, one capable of reaching to the 2.5kHz required to eliminate the response hole typical with commercial cabs. Of course a new crossover will also be required.

well balls.

ok then - does anybody besides Eminence make a commercially available 10” whizzer-coned driver? Eminence has the Legend B102 Whizzer, but it’s only available in 8 ohms, and I need either 4 or 16…

You have to consider a lot more than the impedance. Most whizzer cone drivers don't have particularly good specs for electric bass usage.
