Smallest Combo with Highest output

Sign in to disble this ad
Good Day to you all,

I'm currently using a Hartke Kickback 10 (120W rms) and I was wondering what other combos are out there of a similar size but with a much higher output?

Portability is key as is volume!

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Check out the Genz Benz Shuttle Series. The 6.0-12T has 600W and a 12" speaker.

I'm more of a "separates" guy so I went for the Shuttle 9.0. 900W and 4 lbs. For a compact rig I use it with an EA VL-110 cabinet or an Acme B2.

Definitely check out the various Shuttle combos. The GK MB115, MB210 and MB212 are also phenomenal (and super lightweight for their size). The Ibanez Promethean 1x10 and 2x10 combos are very nice, as well. The Mesa Boogie Walkabout Scout combo is a little heavier, but it sounds like a much bigger rig. Other brands that come to mind are Hartke, Fender, Line 6 and Peavey.

Lots of good options out there!

I would like to know the differences between say the GB Shuttle 6.0 with 12, and the GK MB212 which is not that much larger or heavier.

Its a shame the GKs havent hit the UK yet as Id love to try one.

My current search has led me to either a MB combo, Genz Shuttle Combo or a GK combo. The GK combos are MUCH cheaper in the UK.

The (now discontinued) iAmp-800-12 combo (I forget the exact model designation -- tombowlus can tell you).

There's probably a few floating around on the used market (from time to time).

Good call. That would be the iAMP 800C, I believe.

Don't forget the Markbass 121P. 300 real watts into a box
amost as small as a GK 150mb, and weighs 30lbs. A real work
horse combo. Works for electric and upright.
Put the right 8ohm extension under it and you have 500 watts.

The Mark 2x10 is nice too (CMD102P), though a bit bigger than some of their other combos. The tilt-back is a nice feature, and it's still real light for its size.

To be fair, unless you are using an extension cab, the 6.0-12T is actually running at 375W into the one 12".

This is the combo that I use with my trio. I don't ever really have a need to bring more than that with me to 90% of my gigs, and it handles the low Bs just fine on my two Bongos.

Any clues on what budget you're willing to spend...

Dumb question on your kickback..

If you're gigging it.. why not use the XLR out to the board?

Your kickback is incredible for a stage amp..

I brought one to a VERY picky church gig.. (they have 8 full time sound techs --- 40 hour a week same venue)

I had them give a yes/no against a $$$$$$ DI box.. the Hartke got the "we can use it" report... they enjoyed the kickback didn't overpower stage sound.

You "could" go XLR out to another combo slave.

Micro heads + small but potent cabs = OPTIONS.

This is what I've settled on: (LMII w/ Acme Low B-1)

For rock solid lows out of the smallest possible enclosure, Acme is definitely worth a look IMO. The tradeoff is, the Acme cabs like a few more watts to sound their best. Fortunately, in this day and age, that's not a big problem.
