Smallest Rig Similar To...

So it's been several year since I've looked at amps and cabs. I really don't know what's out there any what's good anymore.

Right now, I am running a LMII and two Epifani UL110s (the first series). This setup has been great to me and I'm in no rush to get away from it. But I am curious if there is anything out there with the same power/volume in an even smaller setup?

I play with a jazz big band and a quartet. About 50/50 between electric and upright. I like have 1-10 for the small gigs and 2-10s for the big band.

The older I get, the more I value more compact and light setups.

Any suggestions?

You are pretty small already and modular. You can get a one hand option like a G-K MB110, MB112 or MB115 very light but not as versitile as what you have. The new series DO have a chain out so you could add powered cabs.

Funny you mentioned that because I was looking at the MB110 but don't think it'll be powerful enough.

I do have a good setup if I do say so myself. just curious what else, if anything, is out there.

I'd wager an audiokinesis thunderchild 112 would beat the two 110 cabs in both volume and ease of movement.

Hmm, I need to do some more research on these. Never heard of them and, just looking at their website, don't care how they look aesthetically. I know, kind of shallow of me and its the sound that matters, but just being honest.

Lots of punch in a smaller package. Plus it's modular.

Well I had the ONE combo with the 8 for a while. Worked out GREAT for rehearsal with heavy drummer and 2 loud guitarists. I did try it once at a gig and sat it on top of an Epifani UL-112 cab. Filled the room of a small club no problem. Obviously with FOH support this would be ideal.

About 23 pounds for the whole rig/
