Late 60's - EV made the speakers, Rickenbacker made the cabinets, and John Paul Jones played the keys through them on the first US Zep tour. Not sure if these particular cabinets were used by JPJ, but apparently they made 12 of the 30" cabs total... I've got 3- one of which is speakerless.

What's funnier is that the Sunn is a 4x15... looks tiny!

Did this quickly just after I got them just for a friend who claimed they couldn't have any top end. It's a garbage camera recording with some bad playing, but you get the idea... 100W tube rickenbacker amp (as seen in the pic) with one 30".

Sounds pretty full range...I'm surprised. Makes a good sound. Well good luck finding that 3rd 30"

Nice Transonic... is it yours?

I believe they made that size of cabinet with 2 15's or 4 12's...

I actually do not know. I was led to believe that they had a single 30".

In the "The history of Rickenbacker guitars - By Richard R. Smith" It is stated that there was an option of either a single 30" or 4x15".

And, it's not mine.

Of course, it's got EVs, it must sound good!

How do you fit 4x15s into that cab? Are some of them facing the back?

For some reason this reminds me of that speaker from Back to the Future...

But why does that hand and mic in the picture look so huge? The shadow made them look like they were right up against that cab. That's what threw me off.

Aaah... No, unfortunately, a 30" would not fit into a cabinet of that size- the EV30W is both too deep and too wide, due to the trapezoidal shape of the cabinet.

They used the square cabinets for the 4x15 and 1x30 configurations as far as I know...

Here are some Zeppelin shots from this era (Note Jimmy Page using a trio of transonics much like the picture above...) The huge three stacked cabinets to the right look to be the same size as the cabinets I have, though they look to have silver, fender style grill cloth. One obviously can't be at all certain.... but interesting nonetheless...

Holy crap that's amazing. Please record some more clips.

In the one you posted, I was quite surprised at the high end content. Not that I was expecting it to be totally absent or anything, just not as sharp as it was.

That is totally off the sprocket!

I want a bigger magnet and a 6" voice coil, though.

I wanna know how the smallest cab in that pic has 4x15 in it. I can see prints of two. Where are the other two?
