So... About watts and ohms...

If I have a 400 watt head @ 2ohms, how many watts is it with an 8 ohm cab?

I just picked up an 8 ohm GK Neo 115 cab, the 300 watt version. I have an old Peavey Mark VI Series 402 head that is rated at 400 watts @ 2 ohms. I should have plenty of head room for the speaker, right?

400 watts at 2 ohms? What head do you have? That would help.

I'll bet he has an old Peavey Mark VI Series 402 head that is rated at 400 watts @ 2 ohms.

So about 250 watts at 4 ohms, maybe 125 at 8 ohms. You should be OK, not loud, but OK.

it's roughly a little more than half, usually

my bet is 250 or 275.

this is for 4 ohms.

I would agree with 125 or 150 watts at 8 ohms.

That's what I was thinking too. Thanks for confirming. The cab is pretty efficient at 104 db, so it may not be too bad.

I'm thinking of trying it in a biamp situation with a GK MB210 combo. I bought the cab as an extension cab, but I have this old head sitting around, so... Always thinkin'.
