So I asked Warwick about their new amps...

Sign in to disble this ad
...and got this response:

Dear mr Santos

we are using a newly developed bipolar design with a unique driver stage and a
THD controlling circuit that keeps the THD under 0.4% at all times. The rating
at 4 Ohms is 300 and 600 Watts each and at 8 Ohms 200 and 400 Watts.
They do however produce a bit more power in normal circumstances and please
note that the ratings are at 0.3 % (1% officially)THD where others normally
rate at 10% THD !
We hope the answers are helping you and that we will win you as a new future
customer....

with best regards

What I still don't know (and I also asked them) is the kind of power amp they're using (class D, A/B...).

Discuss!

These are the amps Warwick Basses Amps & Rock'n Roll

'Bipolar design'?. A manic-depressive amplifier?

What I hate is when companies have all this trouble to develop unique amps (and charge you more for that) and once they are released you realize that they sound the same as every other amp out there. Or maybe worse...

I'm reading the specs again and the rackmount version seems to weigh 10kg. I think that's a bit heavy for a class D power amp, isn't it?

I recently looked inside my Warwick 6x10" cab and found it to be braced with offcuts of plywood STAPLED in place.

I wouldn't touch any of their stuff with a bargepole.

The class of the amp doesn't matter.
Go by features. If weight is important then this is a feature you want.
And only buy from a place you can try it out from for a month and take it back if it doesn't work out. Most manufacturers will extend this option if the store doesn't.

Care to explain why?

Every single Class D I've tried didn't have the same authority of their heavier brothers, doesn't matter the power rating they had...

Maybe it's a warning in disguise...first yopu get the amp and are real happy ...ecstatic even, but that changes real quickly if and when it breaks and you try to get any customer service from warwick at all, who you then find out don't give a sh!t...?
