So I bought The Ampeg Portaflex 350watt and the 15" Cab

Hi I am new here and I recently purchased The Ampeg PF-350 and 15" Cab.

I dont know if is just me but the 15" speaker sounds flabby.. like something is rattling. I plugged the Pf 350 into the 2 10's on my SWR Super Redhead and it sounded great no flabby.

It sounds like the 15" Cab is messed up. It sounds fine at lower sound levels but if you play it louder. As in its on 6 out of 10 on the volume knob it sounds flabby. I JUST bought it. I actually bought the 15" Cab for my super redhead to use as a extension cab. It sounded okay but never was awesome. I figured the SWR was the problem but even with the PF-350 it sounds bad. I don't see how I could have damaged the cab. Its rated for 450w the SWR is 350w with a 4 ohm minimum extension cabinet needed. So the 15 is 8 ohm so that would be fine. I never pushed the cab hard at all.

The 15 seems to have plenty of volume when paired with the PF 350 but the low end is not growly or very deep.

What should I do? I am past the return date for musicians friend. I guess I just expected the 15 to be a nice deep clean growl but the 2 10's seem to do better.

I just got the same setup for smaller jobs and though i dont find the speaker to sound flabby i did notice that on loud low notes there was a buzz. I traced it down to the top board of the cabinet not being held securely enough by the clasps that secure the top to the cabinet. They seem to not secure it tight enough. I have been searching for ways to fix it. I will try to bend the clasps a bit and see if that works but if not i was going to try run some weather stripping that is a little thicker along where they have a small gasket to seal it and see if that helps. I will keep you informed if this solves the problem. I would also try to snug the speaker screws and the screws holding the baffel inside, i noticed they wernt overly tight.
