So I just did a side by side cab test...

classic Ampeg 4x10 cab next to a Eden Nemesis 4x10, and the Ampeg killed it. what other cab would go well with the Ampeg? I was thinking Mesa 2x12, I want the high mids of Ampeg and looking for more punch and low end to go with it.

What about the 410HLF?
Seems a lot of folks like these over an 810.

For the sake of efficiency I'd say get another one of the same cab. Get all them watts and whatnot.

How bad would a HE and an HLF sound together?

The midrange character of the 410he will bury the 410hlf - while the 410hlf will have a lot more low end than the 410he. In the end, your best bet is another 410he.

You can certainly try the 410hlf with the 410he, but the sound is going to be off.

not only that, it creates a 2.67 ohm impedance, which most solid state amps can't handle.

Yup, mixing a 4 ohm cab with an 8 ohm cab is a bad idea in this case. It can work out, but not with 2 very different 4x10's. Get another he and you'll thank me later.

Get another of the same cab.

Don't get an hlf, it's a completely different design and the impedance is also different, leading to a 2.67 total impedance. Also, it would be getting more power than the HE due to being a lower impedance.
