Sign in to disble this ad
And its freakin' awesome!!!!

I played it through my 90s Ibanez SR800 and a friend's Avatar 2x12. I've got a Peavey 412TVX in transit as we speak.

My initial thoughts are this:
1. It's heavy. Welcome to the world of tubey goodness.
2. Even at low volume, it sounds AMAZING.
3. It's quiet.
4. it sounds AMAZING.
5. It's heavy.
6. Did I mention that it sounds AMAZING?!?!?!?!

Lolz, I really like it alot so far. I cant wait for my 412 to get here and see what 'my rig' is actually gonna sound like. I need to check with Peavey and see about a footswitch or if any of you guys know if an aftermarket generic footswitch will work. I need to go to the Peavey site and download the manual...
Wow, I'm excited, can you tell? I'm rambling

Anyways, just wanted to share.

Randy

I just got a VB2 a couple weeks ago as well and I REALLY DIG IT.

I was a little worried about the overdrive channel because of some peoples' posts, but again I really dig it. It's a great amp! I like the mid shift feature and it's nice to have resonance/presence. I have no more amp GAS...it's all cab GAS now.

Is that really any better...?

Is there any way to run both channels at the same time?

Mmm, not that I know of. Maybe a solution would to blend the clean channel with an overdrive pedal you like.

I do like to play on the OD channel with the gain rolled back. Not sparkly clean but not too aggressive.

I love mine. If you think a VB-2 is heavy don't go near a SVT. The VB-2 is a micro lightweight compared it. I lug mine around with no problems, it is lighter than my Orange cab. If you want a little OD just turn up the gain and turn down the master. I just got the footswitch and love it. Just step on it and hang on!

Played through one of these at a local music store at practice volumes. I have a Peavey Tour 700, and wanted to compare the two.

I wasn't a huge fan of the overdrive channel, but this was at low volumes, and I didn't really fool around with many knobs. The clean channel is great though, I'm definitely gonna be looking for a used one in the future.

How's the VB3 compare to the VB2? Is the VB3 "a natural progression/step forward" or is it a completely different amp? I've looked at (online) the VB3 and though the features look great...I'm embarrased to say the blue neon sorta puts me off. Seems a little bit "toyish." Though the tone is what matters...

Congrats on your VB2, Mustbampeg!

The VB-3 is completely different. As you might imagine, it was designed to defeat a certain foe.

The blue lights have a dimmer knob on the back, so you can adjust the brightness or turn them off.

The item number in the manual is incorrect. You want a single-button on/off type footswitch with a standard, mono 1/4" plug. The channel switch must be engaged to use the footswitch.

Are these out in the wild yet? I've looked on youtube to see if anyone has posted any examples. I would love to hear one of these. Trying one would be even better but the local Peavey dealer doesn't stock them. I had to order a VB-2 just to try one.

I've got both, and they're really not very much alike. The VB-2 is tighter in the bass (I don't think the preamp is voiced as low). It's natural voice seems to be flatter, as well.

The VB-3 has HUGE bass, especially when coupled with the resonance control. You can get it to sound pretty flat, too. Once you roll off the bass, it doesn't sound a lot louder than the VB-2.

BTW, the lights on the VB-3 look WAY better in person than they do in ads, and it is REALLY light!!

Both great amps!

Great question! I've had mine for nearly a year. I thought they were in general release at the time, but I haven't seen any of them anywhere.

VB-2 for gigging?

Hi VB-2 owners, I'm very interested in the VB-2, but 1 criteria it needs to meet is gigability(is that a word?) Everything I hear about it is good, but it definately needs to be mt workhorse as well. so... do you gig with yours?

Thanks for you're input in advance, and sorry for hi-jacking
