This is what I suspected but I'm not even on the same continent as the rest. How about gorilla drummers?

There seems to be a disconnect here between what our new hero is expecting to play and what actually goes down in NYC.

When a lot of people who aren't from NY think of NY, including me, think of Manhatten.

Brooklyn, Queens, etc., maybe more cars, neighborhood bars, row houses, etc. and less high-rise/cosmopolitan?

Funny to me how 200w can differ between us bass mooks.

The reason most people have high wattage amps and lots of speakers is for rehearsals. If your band are a loud bunch you might need it all just to be heard. It's my almost unanimous experience that bands always rehearse about twice as loud as they need to. That's the only reason I have a 750w head.

The reason for that? Because it's fun.

At the show the PA amplifies your fun, so you don't have to.
I could not agree more! I laughed so hard when I read this, because it's me and my band absolutely. I can play a lot of our gigs with my Ampeg ba115, but not our rehearsals. No, for those its an SVT and the fridge. What a blast!

The difference is more than likely all due to Eq settings.
