You can do a search, but basically they are the same head, just one is rack mount and the other is in a fancy head case. It's all about looks.

Also, they both suck. I wouldn't buy any solid-state Ampeg head, unless maybe if it was one of their new digital-modeling ones.

I have a B1-RE, the little brother of the B2r, only has the three knob EQ, not the graphical with the sliders. I like it very much. For a beginner on a budget, it's got a good sound to it.

I don't think either or your choices are top of the line pro gear, but from my experience, they should be solid, 'workingman' heads.

Maybe save an extra $100 and get a LMII which to my ears sounds a lot like a tube Ampeg and puts out 500 watts

It rather *does* defeat the purpose of the whole "Ampeg" thing to get a SS head...

Besides, isn't their current "new" production rather... Bad? I've read *nothing* good about "Loud"...

My guess is that the OP is thinking of buying something from MF having never heard or played it. I hope I'm wrong.

I know a guy with a B2R and a classic 410. His setup sounds like Ampeg to me. It's an older, American made amp. I don't know anything about the newer ones.

I used to work at a music store until a year or so ago. Tried many of the new ampegs we got in. They're crap. Chinese made, but priced like they were made in America.

exactly. lmii sounds more like ampeg than ampeg's own ss amps.

actually, i think $300 is too much for either one of them. i've seen svt 3 pros go for only slightly more than that, and it's a much better amp.

Well just a minute there.
The one is a B2R but the other one is a SVT 350. A SVT!
It has to be far superior! I mean Ampeg wouldn't put SVT on just anything they shove out the door .
