Ok..I've done some searching through the threads but haven't found anything that answers my query. I have an early 90's Hartke 410XL Transient Attack cabinet powered by a Kustom KB200 head. My main bass is an ESP LTD B-55 with Roto flats. The band that I am in plays cover tunes (CCR, ZZ Top, Tom Petty, etc). My rig is plenty loud enough to cut through the mix and it has a great growl tone that I dig, but I would like to add a little warmth to the bottom end. I've played with the EQ and have it close to want I want without causing the drivers to distort. Any suggestions on how I can go about this? Many thanks in advance.

I don't fancy those aluminum drivers. I'm a fan of big 12" or 15" drivers, so I am going to sell off the Hartke and get two 1x12's or 1x15's. |

I tried their 4-10s, and they sound like someone singing with a batch of marbles in their mouth when you go for an open E.

be ideal, but you could try 1 at time to fit your budget.
if you post up whats avail on craigslist in your area, you will get a lot of help here. it
really works

really works | I'm not looking for more volume. I get plenty of volume out of that single 4x10 cabinet. I want a little meat to the bottom end.
As far as cabinet availability in my area, here is what there is: Carvin Bass Cab crate b215 bass cab for sale Bass Speaker System
I will also add that the band leader has an Ampeg SVT-CL head and an Ampeg SVT 8x10 cab. He has stated that should we ever play a venue where more volume is needed, we can just bring that. I'm cool with that, however, I have this quirk about me where I prefer to use my own stuff. |

| | Registered User | | Join Date: Nov 2011 Location: Wildomar, CA | | | I just picked up a JBL 4625 1x15 cab. I tried it by itself and it sounds amaaaaaaaazing. Just for giggles I plugged the Hartke cab into it..I'm very pleased with the resulting sound. I know some dislike the idea of running a 15 with a 410, or even mixing different cabinet manufacturers, but my ears liked what they heard. I wouldn't hesitate in running the JBL cab by itself at a gig, and if I need that extra volume, I could either plug the 410 into it or use the band leader's Ampeg SVT rig. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
