Some info of bass cabinets

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello!

First, compliment to the forum; I was allready getting a lot of informations from this forum; now I am getting in "live" and hope to get some answers and also I hope I can give some answers to somebdoy.

So... I am looking for a new cabinet, 4x10; just the differetns and sound description will be good info; talking about 8 ohms and 400, 600 watt.
- warwick 411 pro
- swr working pro 410
- trace elliot 1048H

I must say, that I have head GK 700 rb, and so far I had a backline serie 4x10 cabinet - and I liked it, but it is a power problem, at stage. Then I tried some carvin - so, so; then I tried hartke 4,5 xxl - uff, harsh, really don't like.
So, I don't know so much, what I'm looking for, ofcourse trying is the best, but not always an option. I think I like the mid range, and good low end; also highs but not so importent. I like to be heard at mid and low mid range.
I am playing warwick corvette ( single corvette). I like modern and vintage sound - maybe something in between . Warm, but define and punchy; maybe some slap and pop sometimes.
Funk / rock.

Thanks for anything

First off, the trace elliot is a good pick if you got the cash for it... I played on one a few times and really enjoyed it... there was a 4x10 and a 1x15... incredible.

In my personal live setup though... (Just thought I'd offer) I run a 4x10 W/horn Hartke (not those goofy metal cone speakers) with a Hartke 300W I think... On top of a 1x15 Peavey Black Widow and I believe that amp is 250W... it gives a really good range of tone, and quite a bit of thump. Not a really expensive setup... but it works very well. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

Thank you for infos...
Well,I know that trace elliot maybe do not compare in this "family", but I have some good offers, for good money. Like the same money for all these 3 cabinets.
Well, I play fingerstyle - so I don't know yet, what I like to hear - high mids or low mids , or both, and some low end of course.
- I heard that swr can be to bright.
- About hartke , yes, I tried that aluminum cabinet - i really didn't like it, some low end ok, but playing a higher notes, i didn't hear nothing, and this horn - uuugghh.
- About trace I am worrying if it is similar to ampeg - more old school; a am affraid it can be to soft, I like the punch. But not again to much hi-fi, which is maybe swr.
What about warwick 411 pro - what range of sound and qualitet it is?

And, yes.. I am talking just about 4x10, conected to KG 700rb (ok, in the future hope some other head, but for now); without 1x15 for now. So, hope to get also some low end just with 4x10.

Have you looked into avatar??? There are lots of threads on this forum about them. They are great. Also the customer service over the phone is great too. You get the owner or a tech when you call.

The 410 neo rocks at 4 ohms. Light weight and LOUD

Hmm, ok, I will check the avatar, I heard already something, but what about the price, I am looking more middle and low price (for know), not the top one, whichm I will like to, but , not yet.
And yes, what is this about 4 and 8 ohms--- can I put one 4 ohm speaker on KG 700rb, and it will be louder tha 8 ohms; ofcourse if that is what i want, without upgrading more cabinets ??

Go with 8 ohm, you will have room to grow in the future. Whats wrong with your 700rb that makes you want to get a new head?

Yeah, avatar - I am not from USA , no avatar in europe to try.
- Yes, 8 ohms I also prefer, you never know how much you want to grow
- About KG 700 rb it is ok, I like to so far, but maybe change in the future, we will se. So far I want to find a good cabinet for this head. Well - trace is too expensive now for me.
Loking swr working pro (don't know the quality) and warwick 411 pro.
Want good mids ... that I hear it

W 411 Pros have A LOT of low end; there's a horn attenuator knob on the back too so you can adjust the sound to your liking. Very good cabs for the money; the only downside: these are very heavy and bulky cabs. Other than that, I used a pair of 411 Pros with a GK 700 RB-II (and W basses) and IMO is a good combination, because the amp gives a lot of clarity and sound definition, while the cabs can handle low frequencies very well and reproduce a good articulate low end.

Thanks man, nice to hear how it is going with a KG 700 head - yes, it si clear and sound definition head, that's why I like it - I hope with a warwick to get also good mids - or it is just good low end and highs... like in hartke - hope not
