Someone help out a newbie...

Sign in to disble this ad
Alright, so, thanks to bassmanPaul, I now possess a Peavey Mark VI bass amp... and I have no idea what the following knobs/buttons do. Help!

-companded chorus knobs

-pre-gain (I'm not sure what it does in relation to post-gain, which seems to just make it louder)

-Shelving knobs, x2. Low and high.

-Compression, toggle button

-punch, toggle button

Any help would be amazing!

It doesn't. Haha, I want to know the functions of said knobs... not just what and where they are! But your help is appreciated, thank you!

set the pregain as high as it will go without distorting....back it off a little.
Use the master gain to control your stage volume......not usually more than half or so up to get full volume without distortion.
Shelving are set at certain frequencies and add bass and treble.
Use punch to taste
If you like the sound of compression on, then use it...If it squahes too much. don't
Chorus is just an effect......get those funky alt type sounds from the 80's
Paul Young and The Cure etc.
Finally....listen for distortion and protect your speakers from extreme settings
Hope this helps

sorry, most of the time I've found the Peavey manuals pretty good in explaining what the controls do, obviously not the case here Nice amp, btw.
