Something is burning inside my Ampeg

Thanks in advance for any help.
My setup has been a J Bass into an 80's Fender Flanger into my Ampeg BA 112. Then I added my Boss OD 3 overdrive to see what I could get. After only a few minutes tweaking the OD 3 I smelled something burning in my amp. I instantly turned it all off and pulled out the electronics to inspect. All looked fine. So I ditched the OD 3 and went back to the original flanger plus amp which has been working fine. And again with the burning smell. What's going on? I'm afraid I'm gonna burn this thing down if I play it again. I would appreciate any tech savvy advice.

I may have figured this out. The flanger is running on an AC plug but the poles on the battery jack were touching because the pedal is old and the battery hookup is mangled. This probably sent bad juju to my amp. I'm no electronics wiz but if this makes sense give me a holla. I taped up the battery hookup and no burning smell yet.
