sorry another ohms/watts thread

I'll start off by apologizing but I couldn't find the answer to the question I'm asking.

I'm looking at possibly buying a orange terror bass 500, I have 2 yorkville cabinets, a 2x10 and a 1x15, both of which are I believe 8 ohms and 300watts rms.

now my question is can I use these cabinets with that head (which can switch between 4ohms and 8) safely.

Yes.

But there also can be pros and cons (search the many threads about this subject). Also without at least being able to control some crossover point or the volume of each cabinet individually don’t be surprised if you’re not totally stoked about the mixed cabinets - not that it can’t sound good, but the more control you have the easier it is blending two different cabinets and finding a sound you might totally dig.

@ Qc418 - Blue is a cool color and there is nothing wrong with orange.

Thanks,

Could somebody tell me what the output would be using those cabinets?

would it be 250 out of each?

Speaker cabs DO NOT PUT OUT WATTS, they accept watts in and convert that electrical energy to mechanical movement (and as a result sound).

They would both take the same number of watts from the amp since their impedance is the same. If it puts out 500 W into 4 Ohms, then yes, each cabinet would get 250 w.

No I actually was not sure, your question did not lead me to believe you knew any better than most that pose your same question?
It IS an important point to make. Too many who ask this question think the speaker cab "makes" the watts. If you knew better why ask it that way?
I guess your actual question then, was answered above; "equal" impedance cabs share the wattage input to them equally.
