I just picked up this head. $299, tube preamp, 300 watts, nice EQ options, speaker emulator on the DI (can toggle on/off).
Overall I'm impressed. I haven't hooked it up to a cab yet, but running it into my recording console sounds pretty nice. Here's a sampling: http://www.atkinsonbasses.com/storage/de300hd.mp3 (I used a P bass with flats.)
The first part of the clip is the DI with speaker emulation disabled, and the tube gain around 4. The second part is the speaker emulation enabled and the tube gain around 6.
I was pleasantly surprised to find a Russian 12AX7 tube, rather than a cheap Chinese tube.

Looks like the Hartke LH500 has some competition. Tube front end, tone stack, great price.

I still haven't found the right gear combination that lets me do the "one trip in and out" thing.
