sovtek 6550 vs everything else.

From what I understand there are actually only minor sonic changes between one power tube and another and the primary difference between them is longevity and how well they hold their bias in different scenarios and applications.

A lit of people seem to swear by GE, and winged c, but i keep hearing tgey don't maintain a bias during live/"vibrating" applications. Which is entirely what i need them for. I've had several reputable people tell me the soviets will hold up longer and that I really won't hear much difference. And at half the price, I'm just fine with that.

Can anyone really dispute this? I found it to make pretty good sense, my amp is on top of a cab vibrating constantly, not on a book shelf in a studio. So I want whatever will last longest on the road for the best price.

Ive tried a couple of types in my svt but the sovteks have given me the best luck for holding their bias the longest so i have gone back to them. I also love the aggresive midrange tone of them. Great tube for the price.

Nice, that's what I was hoping to hear. I'm a huge fan of the mids my amp is cranking out so if you're hearing em most from the sovteks compared to others then I think I've made my decision. Anyone else have input?

IME, the Sovtek 6550WE's are very good tubes. mine (orig in my '07 VR) have been very reliable for the last 3 1/2 years.

Thanks for all the input, guys!
I am pretty sure I'm gonna stay with the Sovtek's for now.
I made up a saying a few days ago that goes a little something like this; "if it's not broken, don't fix it."
Feel free to use that phrase in your daily life, I don't mind.
